American Water Summit Gears Up to Tackle the USA's Water Industry Crisis

Oxford, UK (PRWEB) October 17, 2011

Hosted by American Water Intelligence (AWI) & Global Water Intelligence (GWI)*, the Summit will gather water leaders and technology experts from both public and private sectors to brainstorm creative ideas to tackle the major water difficulties now facing America. It will be held on 9/10th November, 2011 at the Atlanta Airport Marriott Gateway, Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

The agenda for AWI/GWI's conference, entitled 'Compelling needs, creative solutions', is responding to the continuing drought conditions across the USA, where in the south they have now become the worst in recorded history. And as the financial cut-backs in the US continue, the summit's agenda sharpens its focus.

"Since we started planning our American Water Summit for Atlanta," says Emma Welsh, GWI's Sales & Marketing Director, "the 'compelling needs' of the events title have assumed a nightmarish significance.

We have added two new sessions - 'Surviving Financial Meltdown' and 'Inland Desalination and Scarcity Solutions' - to cover these issues. Expert understanding is key, and we want our attendees to rediscover the sense of security and confidence that comes from a full knowledge of the facts. We want to help them formulate a strategy, and this is where the 'creative solutions' come in from the new technologies in our Water Investment Idol session and the new financing solutions in 'Breaking the Mold on Infrastructure Finance.'"

The Summit's Keynote sessions are:

The American Statistical Association (ASA) and international publisher Taylor & Francis Group are pleased to announce that Taylor & Francis will publish CHANCE in full color on behalf of the ASA beginning in 2012. CHANCE is the ASAs quarterly magazine that brings statistics to everyday life.

Not a technical magazine, but rather a cultural record of the evolving field of statistics, CHANCE entertains and informs. It features easy-to-digest articles that showcase how statistical methods and ideas in the social, biological, physical, and medical sciences can be engaging, fun, and enlightening.

Since its creation in 1988, CHANCE has covered such topics as expert witnesses and the courts, teacher evaluations and student grades, the statistical history of the AIDS epidemic, election night predictions, racial profiling, counter-terrorism, and the hot hand in ice hockey.

Executive Editor Sam Behseta intends to continue serving the CHANCE audience by publishing highly engaging statistical articles with minimal use of equations and technical jargon. The magazine, said Behseta, soon will offer book reviews and exciting columns about ethics in statistics, statistical data privacy, and statistics education and pedagogy.

On behalf of Taylor and Francis, Kevin Bradley, president, U.S. Journals, commented that We are proud to add CHANCE to the T&F family of publications, and I look forward to seeing the magazines expansion. We are pleased to be partnering with the ASA to bring CHANCE and the ASA journals to a broader and more international audience.
